Introducing Invoke 5.0 – Our Biggest Update Yet
September 24, 2024
Today, we're thrilled to launch the most significant update to Invoke this year: Invoke 5.0. This release introduces Control Canvas, a new tool to generate, iterate, and refine images with unprecedented control and flexibility. We’re also announcing integration with the hugely popular Flux models, both for commercial and non-commercial use. Finally, we’ve made some improvements that make it easy to save, share, and re-use your favorite prompts with Prompt Templates.

Control Canvas

Invoke has built a reputation among artists as having the best canvas for using top-tier AI models to edit and refine images. With Invoke 5.0, we're elevating that experience with Control Canvas—a major evolution that combines generation and editing tasks in a single workspace while introducing new tools for even greater creative control.

Control Canvas retains all the features that made our original canvas the go-to choice for professional artists, such as Regional Guidance and Masked Inpainting, while adding highly requested capabilities, including:

  • Raster Layers: Draw, paint, and manipulate shapes and images on the canvas with the flexibility to adjust and resize without affecting other elements. Raster Layers function similarly to those in traditional photo editing apps, enabling easy iteration and refinement.
  • Editable Control Layers: Modify Control Layers directly on the canvas with our native drawing and design tools. Invoke automatically processes structural guidance (eg. ControlNets) and provides a layer that can be fine-tuned for precise control over the generation process.
  • Provenance Records: Save and recall the canvas state of your creation, ensuring that works can be regenerated and saved with the proper metadata.

Control Canvas is designed for artists who demand infinite control and intuitive usability—offering the freedom to explore, iterate, and perfect every element of their work.

Flux.1

Since its release in August, Flux.1 has quickly become one of the most preferred AI image generation models on the market. Whether you’re exploring Flux for personal projects or deploying it for enterprise use, Flux.1 models can now be seamlessly integrated into your Invoke studio through our partnership with Black Forest Labs.

  • Flux for Non-Commercial Use: Download and install Flux.1 [schnell] and [dev] models in the Community Edition for personal, non-commercial projects.
  • Flux for Commercial Use: Black Forest Labs is partnering with Invoke to make the Flux.1 [dev] model available for commercial use in our Professional Edition. If you’re interested in upgrading your account to include Flux, please contact our sales team, and we can share pricing information. The Flux.1 [schnell] model can be used in the Professional Edition for non-commercial use.

We now support text-to-image, image-to-image transformations, LoRA support, and inpainting with Flux.1 models. We will continue to fully integrate Flux with our Control Canvas as the model ecosystem matures.

Prompt Templates

We also wanted to highlight Prompt Templates, which technically have been released in a previous version but didn’t get the spotlight they deserve. Prompt Templates allow you to save and reuse prompts with ease. Start with our built-in templates or create your own to achieve specific styles and effects. Whether you’re generating assets for marketing campaigns or exploring new creative directions, Prompt Templates will save you time and ensure consistency across your projects.
